How to Fix Double Sound Issue with Widgets
Having widgets sound twice can be caused by a few different reasons. The most common one is having the browser source added to multiple scenes without enabling the "Shut down source when not visible" option.
Most broadcasting software, such as OBS, keeps all your browser sources loaded in memory for all scenes, even if they're not currently visible. This means that if you have an alert widget in your intro scene or Just Chatting scene, and then switch to another scene where the same widget is also present, you might hear the sound from both scenes.
To fix this, follow these steps for each of your browser sources in different scenes:
- Open the settings for each browser source that is causing the double sound.
- Enable the "Shut down source when not visible" option. This ensures that the source is only active and audible when it's visible in the current scene.
- Save the settings.
Another possible cause is having multiple instances of the browser source added within the same scene, either layered on top of each other or placed in different areas.
This is often seen with alert widgets when users accidentally add two or more browser sources for alerts within the same scene.
To resolve this issue, check your scene carefully and ensure that you only have one instance of the browser source for each widget in your scene.
Lastly, the least common cause is using an incompatible streaming software or an outdated version of a compatible software. This is more prevalent when using less common or less widely-used broadcasting programs.
If you're using OBS and it's an older version, we recommend updating it to the latest version. If you're using a less common streaming software, please let us know which one, and we'll try to investigate if there's a solution on our end or if the software developer needs to address any code compatibility issues.
By following these steps and addressing the possible causes, you should be able to resolve the issue of widgets sounding twice in your streams.
